Mamma (and Papa) Mia.

Episode 2.

Home is where the heart is.

I'm typing this as I sit in the Minneapolis airport waiting to board a plane back to California. Though I've been away from 'home' nearly 10 years, leaving never seems to get any easier. Every departure inevitably ends in tears.

What makes it so hard to say goodbye? start:

Family. Friends. Delicious meals. Constant entertainment. Never ending support. Stinky puppies. Quirky humor. Bruegger's Bagels. Snow, rain, shine. 10,000 lakes.

AND, of course.

Meet Maureen (Mom) and Mark (Dad).
AND the whimsical, cozy, colorful, loving home they've made.

Take a Peek:
the knock, knock questionnaire.

I am...happy.

I was born...Bremerton, Washington.

I crave...chocolate...mmm...

Beauty must have...soul.

My home is...a place where my family and friends can spend time together.

Favorite when my kids are all home and they come and sit on my bed to talk.

Another favorite thing...READING!!! I LOVE to read!!

My relationships...mean a lot to me because...they truly are the spice of life.

My favorite spot in the house bedroom because it's peaceful, cozy, and comfy.

Most prized health!

Loungewear includes...flannel pajama pants, t-shirt and slippers.

Song I have on repeat right now is...actually it's a book on tape. Caroline Myss. Can't stop talking about it - ask my kids:)

I am thankful husband. He cooks for me, cleans the house...and makes me laugh.

Food I can't live without...peanut butter.

Drink I can't live

I have a collection of...mermaids. They represent strength, independence, and my longing for the ocean.

I love being a Mom because...words cannot adequately describe's a combination of pride, awe, joy and the most intense love...the kind that makes your heart hurt...There's nothing else like it.

Fondest memory(s) with my family...each time I'm with them is my newest and best memory.

Best quality in a person is...compassion. If we all just had a little more compassion for each other (especially those who annoy us) - what a better world this could be...

My pets are...Buster (also known as Bus.turd) and Lola. Needy but lovable.

Where I a little rambler in Stillwater, MN with huge windows, lots of sunshine, and creaky, old, oak floors!

Favorite movie...I love movies - but my all time favorite? One I never tire of? Sound of Music.

My CRAZY husband...makes me laugh.

I've been married for...31 wild and adventurous years. Never a dull moment with that man.

How we met...At a party in college...he asked me to dance. 30 years later he wrote a poem about that night ...makes me cry every time I read it.

*I plan to do write a little snippet on some of the finds in this edition of the Knock. Maybe when back in LA which shooould be tomorrow. Excited to start anew in 2010!

No One On The Corner...

...has swagger like Rachel.

A serious class-act. I appreciate her uber-casual style off the set but glam transformation when she is working (and working it).

Speaking of Rachel...and the holidays... The Family Stone? Yes, please.

Remember this? SIGH.

E is For Elise.

Check out the beaaauuutiful family we were lucky enough to spend a few hours with yesterday.

Rose is a friend from high school that I hadn't seen in nearly ten years.
When she asked us to do Elise's 1 year photos (thank goodness for facebook:) - I LEPT at the opportunity. What a great way to reunite!

As you can see, Baby Elise is absolutely radiant - full of smiles and chatter and dance and laughter. Maggie (the pup) is also such a sweet soul. Notice her little wink at the camera.
I am convinced she is well aware of the charmed life she lives in this cozy home.

Thank you Mom, Dad, Babe, and Pup for an amazingly wonderful afternoon.
We hope to see you all again very soon!

All I Want For Christmas... all I have now.

It's the most wonderful time of the year.
I have the most wonderful people in my life.
The most wonderful year behind me.
And the most wonderful year and years to look forward to.

Thank you to all who make my life so very full.

Today (and every day) I am grateful!

Wednesday on Tuesday.'s exhausting being so stylish.

Ain't she neat? I think so.

Might have to steal some inspiration for my eventual wedding-day-look!

Now if I could only get me a forehead so I could have some of those bangin' bangs...

Check out my new series, "SIREN STYLE" to the right. For those of us who admire and are inspired by other women's fashion choices.

Packing Up.

I've attempted to set my blogs in advance to keep posts coming over the holidays while we're traveling about the US. I realize many may not even have the time to check during these crazy yet wonderful times, but...just so you know...something may be here if you need a little read.

Into the chillier we shall venture.

Some of the must-haves currently in my suitcase:

Northface Puffy Coat. Like wearing a sleeping bag.

Cuticle Oil to keep my hands from cracking in that dry mountain air!

Did you miss the Christmas Card deadline? How about New Years cards for a change?

*Kate Spade Countdown Cards

Peppermint Tea. Pepperminty. Mmm.

Boyfriend Jeans. Got mine HERE.

Flaming June by Oiseau at Anthro. To keep the promise of eventual sun on the brain...and the bod.
J. Crew Argyle Socks. Womens AND Mens.

Fleece-lined Wellies from Target. $24.99. Find them HERE.

Hope you TOO are staying warm and cozy.
